Nick Lawson-Williams recognises that driving for high levels of employee engagement and motivation is the best way to improve productivity and create better profits and forecasts. His positive and creative approach rubs off on the people he works with.
Nick is currently working in sectors as diverse as digital media, property development and rental, engineering, PR and communications, recruitment, printing and distribution, and wealth management, developing innovative solutions tailored to each client. For one he created a performance review process which included setting up a bonus scheme based on profit, individual performance and company culture. For another client he is providing key staff with coaching to develop leadership behaviours and is helping the MD to create an exit strategy to ensure a smooth transition while the business continues to flourish. He is often asked to deal with tricky people issues which involve putting in place development activities to improve skills, behaviours and performance.
During a 25-year career in the corporate and legal service sectors Nick has dealt with a wide range of strategic HR and operational people-related issues including performance management, absence management, appraisal, development action planning and recruitment. Passionate about people, change and development, he took the plunge into the SME sphere where his aspiration is to develop leadership and management talent in small businesses.
Nick gained a BSc in Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy at Surrey University and an MSc in Work Design & Ergonomics at Birmingham. He is also a Principal Member of the Association of Business Psychologists. Living in rural Hertfordshire, his main free time obsession is long-distance cross-country running. He also supports conservation and wildlife groups and works, when time allows, as a volunteer countryside ranger.
