Sarena Cole, Regional Director at People Puzzles talking about approaching recruitment and how best to tackle it.
Sarena: So what you need to do is to make sure that you’ve got the fundamentals right in the first place. So you know the type of person that you are actually looking for and why are looking for that person. And actually having a job spec for that person so that when they come in they know what they’re doing, but also you are actually attracting the right person the first place.
This can be done in lots of different ways, one is if you’ve got someone in a particular position at the time that is doing a really good job then trying to find somebody who is identical to them, if you haven’t got anyone in that role it’s trying to imagine what that person would be like that you need.
Attracting people obviously a challenge in itself. Nowadays there’s so many ways you can attract people to your company, whether it’s using your company, whether it’s using your own network or using the traditional way of getting recruitment agencies to help you.
But another way is to actually find somebody you can come in and help you identify who the key people are in your business so that you can then utilise that talent to then go and find additional people.
