Based in Edinburgh, Rory is an international HR Leader with over 20 years of experience spanning across both inhouse HR and HR Consultancy. His experience ranges from a spectrum of HR disciplines within large publicly listed multi-nationals to establishing HR approaches and policies within growing private family businesses.
As the Group HRD for Caravel Group, Rory’s most recent role encompassed strategic oversight of the HR function for an organisation of over 1,200 people across multiple geographies. His work included initiatives to enable growth such as a review of the organisational structure and the establishment of talent management frameworks. More detailed work around the formation of grading structures, competency models, recruitment and onboarding processes, performance management and reward policies and processes flowed from the above.
To enable sustained growth, Rory has built and managed HR teams as well as having implemented HR technology systems and outsourcing of non-core processes.
Before Caravel Group, Rory worked in HR business partnering roles for large multi-nationals including Prudential, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. Rory has also worked for Aon and HayGroup Korn Ferry in Reward Consulting roles.
Rory is Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and Accredited in Hogan Psychometric Assessments and Saville Wave & Aptitude Assessments.
