We are looking for commercially minded, energetic HR Directors seeking a challenging and varied portfolio career.
Why join us?
All our HR Directors and Heads of HR have worked at large corporations and at ambitious SMEs. They have operated at senior management or board level for more than five years, and understand how HR strategy can maximise the effectiveness of people throughout an organisation.
General management and sales experience is a definite plus, as we pride ourselves on being commercially focused and results driven.
They are also equipped and keen, with support, to grow their own portfolio careers. Read here to find out what life is like as one of our HR Directors.
To join us, you need to:
Be a great fit with our team
We really value being straightforward, smart, and having a sense of humour. You need HR expertise, great commercial skills, the ability to amend your approach from business to business, and be able to work well with and promote change within the businesses you will work with.
Demonstrate you understand and work well with owner-managed businesses
That means being comfortable working strategically at senior management or board level (some operational and administrative tasks may be required), and being sensitive to the business journey many have been on.
Be committed to learning
There is something new every day, and as part of ongoing development we welcome and ask for feedback from clients to keep us all improving.
Commit to People Puzzles
We want you to develop a client portfolio with People Puzzles. You need to be available for a minimum of 3 days per week, ideally 5, once your client base is established.
Have the ability to fund the start-up phase of your client portfolio
It takes 3-6 months before the earnings you want start to follow. You need to commit to get active with us from day one and have financial stability to cover your expenditure during this period.
Required Skills & Experience for HR Directors
Proven senior HR experience – 5 years+ at either ‘Director’ or ‘Head of’ level
Experience of working in both corporations and owner-managed/family-run businesses
Able to deal with a wide range of employment relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance, redundancy, recruitment, appraisal schemes, drafting contracts and handbooks
We also expect you will have a great sense of humour, be energetic and a team player
Degree educated and CIPD qualified or equivalent
Entrepreneurial mindset (spot and develop new client opportunities; attend network events etc.)
The People Puzzles Recruitment Process
All applicants will need to follow our process, which is:
Apply with a CV and cover letter
Complete a short questionnaire and DISC profile through Thomas International. We use this profiling as a guide to assist in shortlisting candidates for interview.
Attend an online meeting with our Head of Resourcing, a technical competency assessment either online or in person and a final meeting with the Regional Director.
No agencies please.
Please note, every application we receive deserves our full attention and review. It seems that we are quite popular and lots of talented individuals would like to work with us (aren’t we lucky!). This is fantastic for us but it does mean that we cannot respond to the huge volume of applicants in lightning speed. So we humbly ask your patience and to please bear with us.
Our recruitment process is incredibly robust because we absolutely need to get it right. Every person we hire is essentially a People Puzzles ambassador. Our aim is to respond within two weeks of your application but, during particularly busy periods, this is sometimes just not possible. Thank you for thinking of us and we hope to respond to you soon.
