Summary
Barbara is a culture, change and transformation specialist, adept at reading the runes to uncover the organisational pain points others miss. Over 25 years, she has moved seamlessly across tech, FMCG, travel, education and financial services, and between fast-moving PE-backed start-ups and global listed businesses.
Barbara thrives in multinational, complex environments, having created and led global people strategies spanning the full employee life cycle, and her work consistently delivers commercial results. In her most recent Chief People Officer role, her interventions increased employee engagement from 41% to 71% in the space of 18 months, whilst reducing voluntary attrition by 21%. Her strategic impact saw her appointed Managing Director of four of the group’s legal entities.
Her commercial judgement comes to the fore when businesses are navigating significant transformation. When a global education group’s HR system ran into difficulty, Barbara steered it through a system implementation that saved the business £2.5m. Having sat on both sides of the board table, she partners with founders, CEOs, executive boards and management teams to shape and execute business strategy, particularly through periods of ambiguity.
Calm and steady, Barbara is a trusted coach to senior leaders, creating a safe environment where leaders at every level feel supported and challenged in equal measure. She builds capable, business-focused People teams that operate with confidence and empathy.
Barbara holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Surrey, where her thesis explored the social and political aspects of talent management in organisations. She also holds an MSc in People and Organisation Development from the University of Sussex.
