A highly results driven and action orientated HR generalist, Shahbaz has operated at global, European and UK level, primarily within the automotive / engineering / construction manufacturing sectors.
She has experience in large multinational companies including GKN Automotive, GKN Powder Metallurgy and Federal Mogul Corporation (part of Tenneco Inc). She has also held the role of Group HR Director at Forterra Plc, a leading UK manufacturer of essential clay and concrete building products. Shahbaz is equipped and able to bring this extensive experience to any SME on a growth trajectory.
One of her biggest achievements was leading HR in a division of £4 billion sales and 20,000 employees and executing a global re-organisation. This involved moving from three regions (Americas, Europe & Asia) to two distinct global product streams. The project was successfully completed within three months with minimal disruption.
Since joining People Puzzles in September 2023, Shahbaz has successfully supported a number of SMEs to transform business performance, profits and growth plans.
Clients have ranged from a heat exchange manufacturer supplying the automative, marine and Defence sectors; a heavy duty industrial cleaning equipment provider for large scale warehouses and manufacturers; a packaging and logistics distributor serving e-commerce, retail and industrial clients; and a social care service provider serving over 95 locations in the UK. Employees have ranged from 30 to 2500, and revenues have been between £10 million to £80 million. This highlights Shahbaz’s agility and versatility to deliver on clients’ needs regardless of their industry. It also demonstrates her ability to swiftly move from strategic HR whilst sitting on the Board, to rolling up her sleeves to get the job done.
During her very first assignment with Thermex Ltd, she was the catalyst for transforming the business within 17 days. Based on her recommendations the business was able to reduce customer arrears by 98.6%, increase customer delivery performance by 50%, reduce internal scrap performance by 52%, reduce external scrap performance by 78% and ultimately increase profits. Shahbaz is an advocate of talent management, and via People Puzzles she has successfully delivered an Executive Leadership Development programme to over 40 Board level Directors.
