Liz’s career began as a Personnel Manager with Asda Stores, an experience that provided a practical, lean grounding that has informed her approach over the past three decades. She has since gained vast experience in operational, programme, and leadership HR roles, successfully delivering HR Director roles for notable companies including Network Rail, Oil Spill Response, WYG plc, Aurora Corporate Services – Capita Group, and AGF Insurance (now part of Allianz). Additionally, she supported Ernst and Young LLP (northern) on an interim basis and successfully delivered a number of consultancy projects.
Since joining People Puzzles and supporting SME and mid-tier clients, Liz has focused on translating overarching business goals into impactful and meaningful actionable plans, with a strong emphasis on talent management, workforce planning, restructures and employee relations (ER). Her extensive HR skills cover the whole employee lifecycle, with Change Management and Organisational Development particular strengths. Liz is also experienced in implementing and improving the functionality of HR tech solutions.
Recognised for her board-level acumen, Liz has contributed to Remuneration and Nomination Committees, advised on CEO and C-suite appointments, and implemented succession and reward frameworks that align leadership performance with long-term business outcomes.
A passionate advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, Liz is credited with delivering measurable advances in female and ethnic minority representation within workforces. Furthermore, Liz understands and has aided the journey to securing IIP Accreditation and recognition as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work, demonstrating her commitment to fostering high-performance, engaging work environments.
Liz has a keen interest in employee wellbeing and a passion for conflict resolution. She is an accredited qualification in workplace mediation, adding a valuable skill set for building constructive and positive employee relations.
A lifelong learner, Liz is currently expanding her expertise by studying for her Level 6 ILM Certified Non-Executive Director (NED) Programme qualification.
