Building success in clients and focusing on family – Meet People Director Kerry Howard
Solving problems and seeing businesses thrive is what makes People Director Kerry Howard as passionate about her role today as the day she started. Working as a fractional C Suite leader enables her to build up her property business and enjoy special times with her young daughter.
In what way has People Puzzles helped you to thrive?
Working with People Puzzles has given me the variety of work that I really enjoy and thrive on.
The clients that we work with genuinely want us there and have that desire to do things better for themselves and their people.
Being onsite with my clients, immersing myself in their businesses and being able to see the difference my input is making, motivates me even more. It has been 5 years now since joining people Puzzles and I can honestly say that I am as passionate about what I do today, as the day I joined.
Have you had one stand out moment when you have felt lucky to work with People Puzzles?
Literally the last People Puzzles conference – it was without a doubt the best conference I have attended with the company. The energy in the room was electric, being surrounded by likeminded people, listening to some truly motivational speakers. I volunteered to be a facilitator for the World Café, not really knowing at the time what I was getting myself in for, but I really enjoyed it. Knowing that we are all here, with the same goal of making lives better for our clients is really energising and I was so pleased to be a part of it.
What have you found most meaningful about your work with People Puzzles and our clients?
I worked in larger corporate organisations for most of my career and often as part of larger project teams. I enjoyed the work, but you don’t always see the impact of your work first hand. Now, with my clients, I am working on bringing solutions to real life problems and I truly feel like I am making a difference and even better, I get to see the results!
What areas are you passionate about outside of your work?
First and foremost, my daughter. She was the driver for me moving to this way of working. In my previous career, I travelled a lot and that would impact what I could and couldn’t do at home. Now I get to pick her up from school, drop her at Cheer, take extended leave over the summer holidays and enjoy every moment with her. We went to Disney in Florida, which was an incredible family holiday and knowing I could go away for 3 weeks, completely switch off without judgment or constant emails/ calls from work was incredible.
As well as my daughter, I run a property business, buying and refurbishing properties. This way of working gives me the flexibility I need to manage that, attend events and even grow the business, I am always on the lookout for the next opportunity!
What excites you most about the next 5 years of your career?
I see myself still working with my clients and continuing the journey with People Puzzles. I truly believe we offer a niche service and if we continue to provide exceptional strategic HR, the sky is the limit.
