Working effectively with your home-based team
Financial measures to support businesses through COVID-19
We’ve developed a toolkit to support businesses with remote working. Remote working, home working, virtual team. So many words to say the same thing: we don’t need to be in the office. At the moment, most of us either can’t or don’t want to be in the office.
Some businesses, like ours, have been virtual since we started (10 years!). Others have been forced by COVID-19 into shifting to remote working at extremely high speed, perhaps before the technology, team approach and leadership was ready for it.
There are loads of perks to home working, including lack of commute, less highly infective germs, and potentially increased productivity and better quality work.
But in our experience, those businesses who are new to it could benefit from some tried and tested tips from those of us who have been doing it for ages. There are things it is worth clarifying such as response times, deliverables with timelines for completion, communication channels and how to give feedback. Running great online meetings is a whole new skill to be developed and practiced.
Then we need to continue to model and demonstrate our values, plus showing how we care for our team, listen to them, develop strong relationships based on trust, promote wellness and actually get the work done to a great standard.
Our virtual team, remote working toolkit involves:
1. Remote working … what great looks like (and when it goes wrong)
2. Using technology and virtual communication top tips
3. Managers’ Top 10 best practice checklist
4. Managing wellbeing
5. The role of the CEO / MD / top team in making remote working a success
6. Remote working action plan
