Fractional People Director
Lynn is a highly strategic and results driven experienced HR Director with a proven track record of developing successful business aligned people strategies that bring about performance improvement.
Summary
A natural problem solver, she challenges traditional people thinking, understands “what good looks like” and translates this into a compelling vision. Being both articulate and personable she is able to inspire and motive all levels of the organisation towards delivering business goals.
As a chemist Lynn started her career working in international FTSE 100 chemicals companies and it was while working for the Tioxide Group Lynn decided to move from analytical chemistry into HR – “People are way more complex than chemicals” she explains.
As well as working in large international corporations, Lynn has worked for numerous SMEs, included many family-owned businesses, bringing a pragmatic and commercial approach to helping those smaller businesses achieve their ambitions.
With a solution-focused approach, she has helped businesses develop their ultimate goal and vision as well as helped break those long-term aims into actionable business strategies. Successfully implemented people strategies to help achieve this include building high-performance cultures; developing and articulating the employer brand; assessing the future talent needs; developing in-house capability, identifying succession plans; modular leadership development for all levels of leader, organisational design, defining values & behaviours, implementing reward schemes. She says ’employee engagement is critical to business success and is an absolute win-win and so the development of fit for purpose communications processes is key’. Lynn is also skilled at leading restructuring programmes and managing any redundancy processes that may result. “How we exit people from a business says everything about how we feel about our people and therefore it is important to get it right”.
One of Lynn’s passions is developing up-and-coming HR people into commercial, business-aligned, value-adding professionals. Many HR members of previous businesses still seek mentoring support from her.
Sector experience includes high-tech manufacturing, property development, construction, IT and telecoms, textile design and manufacture, chemicals, personal care development and production, warehousing & distribution, and financial services. She admits manufacturing remains a passion for her.
Lynn is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, holds Executive Coaching and Mentoring ILM Level 7, has a Post-Grad Diploma in Personnel & Development and BSc (HONS) Chemistry degree.
